To tell you the truth, we don't have plans to really ever move away. Yeah, there are warmer climates I would looooove to live in (especially during the winter months). And to have a lemon tree right outside my house? That would be delightful. But, for obvious reasons (family-hello, free babysitting) and not-so-obvious reasons, I'm happy and content with this town, I have and will (probably) always call home.
In fact, the house we are praying about buying is just minutes from where I grew up. Like, our kids will be going to the same elementary school I went to. Never in a million years did I think that would be my future when I was a teenager. I was totally "I can't wait to get out and experience the world and move away." [Funny how you think you have to go searching for something and it's really right under your nose.]
Family Saturday Ritual: Farmer's Market- popcorn and music is a must. Oh, summer, please don't fade away too fast.
So, we are here, doing our thing, creating new and exciting experiences in this same ol'town of mine. Embracing it full-on. [Also? I would not be opposed to lots of family traveling in the future.]

Oh how I miss that town!! <3
I LOVE this!! Abra, your girls and photos and all around perspective are intoxicating. Brava, mama.
You're blog looks gorgeous too!
Perfect! Goes to show what a blessed childhood you had. It's great to be able to show your kiddos the value of being near family and show them what you loved as a young one. Also, that pic of N watching the wooden puppy and music man is just delightful!
You have to come to Valpo in fall! I love our town, too. I am so thankful we've made the most of this summer here.

I too thought I would most certainly run off to another town, but both my hubby and I have lived here our whole lives (well him since about age 5/6). But it is the perfect family town, we have great jobs we cannot complain of, and of course family right around the corner (okay not quite that close, but like 2 minutes and 20 minutes) . . . very blessed :)
this post made me smile. i still live where i grew up and i quite like it. my mom still lives in the house i grew up in. i guess its just comforting to know that other people feel the same way. so i thank you for putting my mind at ease this evening.
i have lived in the same town my whole life too... it may not seem as amazing as other places, but it's my home!! & there is something so much better about that! :)
Oh Abra, I was just planning a similar post in my head this morning. How funny!
I live in the same town that I was born in. I briefly left to study abroad for 6 months, but that's it. I never, never, never saw myself living here forever, but like you, it's reallly hard to leave the babysitters/families. Both Eric's and my family are here, which is so nice!
